British Government invites Queensland company to tour UK

Data communications specialists, Braintree Communications have been invited by the British Government on a trade mission to the United Kingdom in October this year.

The trade mission is committed to helping British and Australian companies form mutually beneficial partnerships and to raise the awareness within the British ICT industry of technology developments in Australia. The mission will also enable the selected Australian companies to see first hand the particular strengths of the British ICT sector.

The aim is to help British and Australian companies export their technologies throughout the Asia-Pacific and European regions respectively.

This opportunity will help Braintree gain valuable exposure for their unique technology in alignment with Braintree’s pursuit for international partners. Braintree has already identified and commenced discussions with major Telco’s and ICT service providers within the UK and Greece to deploy Braintree’s world-first gateway technology.

In Australia, Telstra’s small business ISDN eftpos solution is powered by Braintree technology.

Braintree’s Gateway technology provides SMEs and retailers with a fully integrated, flexible and scalable network solution. The gateway consolidates a retailer’s entire communications network into single line. Previously, retailers required dedicated lines for each communication, which is costly for the end user.

“Retailers can connect multiple EFTPOS terminals, ATM’s, PC’s with internet connection, telephony and security equipment amongst other peripherals to our gateway,” said Chief Executive Officer for Braintree, Mr Peter Hall. “The Gateway integrates all these terminals and interfaces with modern network platforms through a single connection.”

“It is the only device in the world that provides this level of integration for retailers into a single connection.”

Braintree’s Gateway is also an intelligent protocol conversion device that allows legacy communications equipment to connect immediately and seamlessly to modern IP networks.

“The protocol conversion intelligence we incorporate in our Gateway solution is very important to the SME and retailing markets who can not afford the huge capital expense of updating all their communications equipment to gain access to the benefits of modern networks, such as ISDN and ADSL,” said Mr Hall.

Braintree’s world-first gateway has already won 2 national IT awards and AusIndustry has awarded Braintree a $455,000 R&D Start Grant to further develop this unique technology.

Mr Hall said “We hope to use this tour to further consolidate our existing relationships with UK companies and to identify new international commercial opportunities for our technology”.

In conjunction with the tour Braintree will be attending the UK’s premier communications event, the TMA2002 exhibition in Brighton. This provides Braintree with the opportunity to showcase their technology to major Telco’s and telecom services suppliers from the UK and Europe.
