5 March 2004 Braintree runs trial for Cashcard - The Rust Report Queensland company Braintree Communications has completed a trial of a wireless-enabled automatic teller machine for Cashcard. The project, claimed to be the first of its kind in Australia, involved sending Cashcard's transactions over Telstra's GPRS network using Braintree's Axon terminal adaptor. "Substituting expensive
fixed wire ATM connectivity with wireless networks gives the combined
benefits of better mobility, easier ATM fleet management, and dramatic
transaction cost reductions," claimed Peter Hall, chief executive
of Braintree.
